a literary life

What is your favorite thing about reading and/or writing?

It’s hard for me to choose just one thing!  I love that I get to create new worlds, love that it’s my responsibility to make people think about God and ideas.  But I think my very favorite thing is that I know that, when I write, I am sitting in the very seat of God’s will for my life … I am doing what I was created to do.  How many 31-year-olds are that clear on their calling (and are able to respond)?!  I love my literary life.

  1. When I write, even when it feels like I can’t find the next word, it still feels like I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing. I feel a contentment that I don’t feel with any other activity.

  2. Personally, I love when there are characters I can relate to, when I get to know them, watch their interactions with each other, and feel their struggles and triumphs right along with them. The highs and the lows, I want to experience them all with the characters I’ve grown to love.

When I myself am writing, my main goal is to make the reader feel something for the characters and the story I’m telling. Joy, sorrow, sympathy, anger, whathaveyou. I also like it when I can teach my audience something, too. 🙂

I just wish I had your certainty about God’s will for your life, Jackie. 😦
