I’ve been trying to blog, and I’m just not feeling it. I have a lot to say, but I’m distracted by my manuscript– and I think that’s actually a good thing. This month might be a little quiet from me as I battle through revisions. Send good thoughts. I feel really excited about the direction of the story. It’s been a challenge, but a GOOD one. A rewarding one.
I will say that I recently finished The Emotional Craft of Fiction by Donald Maass and that it was possibly the most useful, nuts-and-bolts book on writing craft I’ve ever read. Ever. If you write fiction, definitely buy a copy immediately.
In the meantime, will you leave a comment? A line or two about what’s going on in your world? I want to stay connected.
Love,
Jackie
I have begin taking a TEFL certification class. Now I just need to work ahead to the part on lesson planning so I can finish the application to teach in South Korea.
Is this Natalie, I’m guessing?? That is so cool. I have a unw friend there now!!
Yup, it’s Natalie
I will be visiting the Twin Cities in May. I sent you an e-mail about it!
This morning, I judged a science fair. I really enjoy doing that because some of the students give me hope for the future of science in the country.
As a scientist, I want to write a few predictions about elements or events that will appear in Salt Novel. I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place for that, or if it is appropriate at all, but I will let you decide that.
Elements or events I predict will appear in Salt Novel
1. One of the principle characters will die before reaching adulthood. Based on the setting and title, my guess is that the cause of death will be drowning.
2. A trio of principle characters
3. The importance of story (or an actual story within the story) will be a prominent theme
4. Despite 1, the novel will have an overarching sense of hope
5. Fornication, possibly illegal.
Now, wanting to see if my predictions are accurate is one more reason for me to but it 🙂
Hahaha I love this. 3/5 correct! 🙂
Now, I am even more intrigued. Look forward to reading.
Also, I just realized that both of our blogs have door pictures in the header. Mine is is of the door to the original Cavendish laboratory.
Definitely a good thing to be distracted by your manuscript. I just had my sisters bridal shower/bachelorette party and am trying to get back into writing mode on book 2. Still in the outlining stages, but want a very very detailed plan this time. xo
